Goals vs Disciplines

Published: Sun, 11/12/23

Linked below (with my compliments) is our Quarterly Success Plan.

Part of the Plan asks you to outline your three Goals for the quarter.

And you might be tempted to mistake Goals for Disciplines.

Perhaps fuzzy at first, the distinction between the two becomes clearer by example.

Some wholesalers aspire to have five scheduled one-on-one appointments per day, four days per week.

If it's a Goal, it's something that you strive to accomplish and, we hope, do your best to achieve.

If it's a Discipline, you simply won't relent until the five are in your calendar.

Goal: lose 10 pounds.

Discipline: workout every other day.

Goal: read a book a month.

Discipline: spend 30 quiet minutes in the morning, every day, reading.

Great wholesalers understand that goals are a powerful tool, and they have the discipline to make those goals become a reality.

I challenge you to use it each quarter to create your next Career Year.
