Pat's second chance

Pat screwed up.

Pat landed an appointment with a $2 billion Raymond James team and went in guns blazing: product, product, product.

Lucky for Pat, immediately after the first slide lit up the iPad, a managing director stopped the meeting in its tracks.

They said, “You are going about this all wrong.”

Giving Pat a truly extraordinary gift, they said:

"We model our practice on Nick Murray's teaching.

If you're willing to read two books of Nicks' in the upcoming 90 days, which will help you understand how we operate, we would be willing to set up another meeting with you."

Setting ego and embarrassment aside, Pat read two books:

- Gathering Assets
- The Value Added Wholesaler in the 21st Century

Then scheduled a follow-up meeting.

Those 45 minutes were devoted to listening and learning about the team’s practice, how they manage money, and how they interact with their clients.

When Pat was done, the team said, “Welcome. You are now a part of our team.”
