Welcome to shrinkflation

Doritos used to sell a 9.75 oz. bag, until they lightened it to 9.25 oz. (price unchanged).

A box of General Mills breakfast cereal shrunk by ~10%, though it's still "Family Size."

Your Mega Roll, Super Mega Roll, and Ultra Mega Roll toilet paper now has less sheets and each sheet is a wee bit smaller.

Oh the marketers will say it now has "bigger crunch", "improved taste", or "cushiony touch."

But if you're like me, we simply see a smaller version of the same product, which costs more, than the last incarnation of the same brand.

If it's not shrinking in size, we're getting less service - now coined skimpflation

The automated voice who says, "Due to high call volume, your current hold time is 56 minutes."

The jolly front desk clerk who proclaims, "Our $38 resort fee includes a Do Not Disturb door hanger!"

In a world where we are forced to accept less, you have a golden opportunity to be memorable by simply adding more real, everyday value to the clients and prospects that you serve.

So, what's your MQ - Memorability Quotient®?
