Simple moments of wholesaling pleasure.
Tucked away in the far corner of Nordstom there was a shoeshine stand.
For $5.00, including tip, you could get a mighty-fine shine from Connie, who took her job seriously indeed.
If you happen to be in Chicago and run into Stan, you'll meet a man who is equally hard working and dedicated.
He said, reflecting on his sense of family obligation, "I don't care, I'll drywall, lay tile or shine shoes."
"I'll find a way to make a living while my friends sit at home jobless and complain about child support", he said.
"My Dad always told me that ones is better than nones."
He too offered a really great shine.
But as hard as Connie and Stan worked, it pales in comparison to Leon.
Leon Frisby to be precise.
Whose sign I saw in NYC, next to his busy stand in the hotel lobby, which read:

Leon understands the concept of 'brand or be branded'.
