His paper clip fix

Three days before Thanksgiving.
When fall is turning to winter, the rains come, and the temperature drops.
Family, food and football.
It's a lovely image.
Unless you have no heat.
With the temperature fast descending into 'meat locker' on the thermostat, we called the local heating and air conditioning dude, Jason.
Showing up within an hour of the call, he diagnosed that he thought a spider had blocked one of the gas lines with its web or egg.
Returning from his truck with a paper clip, he poked through the arachnidian blockage and, viola, the problem was solved.
Total time: under 7 minutes.
He explained that the first time he encountered the issue, he tore the unit completely apart and spent hours diagnosing it.
Now, through his years of experience, he's the heating unit whisperer.
This reminded me that there is no substitute for experience.
If you have it, leverage and flaunt it.
If you don't, rest easy (but work hard) because it will come.
It also reminded me that there are no shortcuts to gaining said experience.
You'll need to tear down the whole heating unit before you'll understand it's a paper clip fix.
