Oh, to have a dollar for each time I've heard that from a coaching client.
The truth is, a small subset of these folks aren't wired to think outside the box.
And yes, unfettered creativity will, at times, be throttled by compliance.
How about you?

The #1 roadblock you (and I) need to fight through on the road to creativity is...EGO.
With ample speedbumps provided by fear and self-doubt.
In our industry, that continues to roil, change and adapt, your willingness to break out of the conventional and try your hand at the clever/inventive/innovative may be the difference between the top of the leaderboard and the line below...where the next round of 'right-sizing' (read: layoffs) is taking place around us.
