Short on ears

It was a gloomy Sunday.

What better way to spend it, as a resident of the Wine Country, than out sampling a wee bit of the juice.

On this chilly winter day, I took my niece to a high-end tasting. 

It was just the two of us and our host seated at the table.

At one point in the conversation, the host gets up from his chair as he asks, "How's the temperature in here?"

Niece: "It's fine thanks".

Me: "I'm good".

Host: "Great". 

All the while he's walking toward the thermostat and setting it to "Swedish Sauna".

In no time at all, both niece and I have the sweaty glow you get from sitting on a Louisiana porch in mid-August.   

Though our host knew vast amounts about wine, he lacked the single most important relationship building/enhancing skill.

He wasn't listening.
