What if?

He was inside his own head.
Deep.
So far, it seemed, that the 'what ifs' were taking control.
What if my territory is cut?
What if a bear market really occurs?
What if the firm does away with traditional wholesalers?
So infectious were his 'what ifs' that the, as yet unfounded, prospects of what might be were stealing the joy from the what is.
Said another way, he was loosing the ability to celebrate his significant victories because his 'what ifs' were chewing up all his joy.
So I remind you, as I remind myself from time to time:
Control the controllables.
If your territory is to be cut, if the bear comes out of hiding, or if your firm fires everyone that does your job tomorrow, you'll figure it out.
Until that time, all the 'what ifs' in the world a) simply don't matter and b) will suck your energy dry.
