Quick quiz.
Who's the greatest boxer of all time?
Muhammad Ali would be a strong contender.
How about the greatest investor of our time?
Warren Buffet is high on a short list.
Here in wine country, the name Heidi Barrett is akin to royalty.
Her nickname, The Queen of Cult Cabernet, is well deserved as she's one of the only Napa winemakers to have scored five 100 point wines.
Quite an accomplishment, considering there are over 500 Cabernet producers in the Valley.
What are her secrets, and how to they translate to wholesaling?
1. She works with clients she likes.
You should extricate yourself from all perpetual asshats you deal with.
2. She only works with a select number of wineries.
You should have a tight list of Top 100 Producers that you cherish and nurture.
3. She works with clients that are within a 30 minute drive or flight (she's a helicopter pilot) from her home.
You should be regimented regarding your rotations.
Wholesalers and wine, both made to age gracefully when crafted correctly.
