Death by GPS

Perhaps you've heard the stories.
Sometimes simply humorous: the driver that follows Google Maps into a lake.
Sometimes sadly serious: the couple who, using their GPS, turned off Idaho State Highway 51 en route to Las Vegas via "the scenic route.”
Three weeks later the search for them was called off, and they were never found.
In both cases the drivers fell victim to Plan Continuation Bias, defined as, "the tendency of people to continue with an original course of action that is no longer viable."
It happens to airline pilots (called ‘get-there-itis’), oil tanker captains (Google 'Torrey Canyon oil spill'), and wholesalers.
If there's one thing that the last 6 months (really, 6 months...) have demonstrated it is that our business navigational systems need to be calibrated on a weekly basis.
Because what worked in the before times may not work now.
Heck, what worked in June may not work now.
Great wholesalers are keeping their eyes on all the dials, course correcting as required, and steering clear of the inherent dangers lurking just around the bend.
